Stagered Frt and Rear Tires
I'm new here and need some information and this has probably been asked..Sorry..but I need to know if anyone is running Staggered sized tires on their GT Mustang with the 18" wheels.I would like to go to the Drag radials on the rear..Possibly the Nitto but what would I run on the frt. Right now I have the 235/50zr18 BFG KDWS. What I am looking for is the larger wider tire on the rear but will it cause problems with anything and if it would look ok and what would fit. I'm not into racing it but mostly for looks..Thanks

Sure lots of people run staggered sizes. I run 255/45/18 front and 285/40/18 out back. Love the look and feel. Wider tires up front can cause tramming. I had the same size stockers as you when I bought my car. Check out American Muscle and tirerack for some ideas.

What is your wheel width? You can stagger your tire width but you need to be aware of the widest tire width recommended by the tire manufacturers for your wheel. I have 275's (which is about the widest I can go) all around on 9.5" wheels. If I had to do it over I'd have 255's up front. Those 275's tramline pretty bad on rutted roads. If you have stock 8.5" wheels, the widest recommended if I recall is 255.

How wide do you want to go? I have stock size fronts and 255/45 18's in the rear, it's a very subtle change but noticeable. Just remember for proper fitment of really wide tires you must also consider your rim width. Shoehorning a wide tire on the stock rim won't mean you'll get the full benefits of that wide tire.
