Default shaker 500 upgrades

I just got a '05 GT with the Shaker 500. I have a convertable so I don't have the option of putting anything in the rear deck. I am looking into upgrading the subs in the door. Anyone done this and what speaker is everyone using or heard about people using with success?

I wanted to upgrade the sound on the Shaker 500 in my '06 "vert. without changing the head unit. I changed all 4 speakers to Sony XS-V680HP speakers. I also changed the door mounted woofers to the Shelby woofers (made by Kicker). Pretty happy with the results.

Adding a powered sub in the trunk made a big improvement on my hardtop. Also changed out the 4 6" x 8" speakers.
