Not just trading in but its seems like people are trying to justify on why not to get the 5.0. For the exception of the rear end on my part I think its a pretty dam amaing car! The 5.0 is part of the brotherhood so why knock on it.. My car can beat a 5.0 and i'm still jealous of them. There is a black convertable 5.0 at my work and it looks sleek. I'm not a huge fan of the new body style for the exception of it being in black! haha I love my car to death but if I got what I wanted for it I would not have a problem trading it for a black 5.0 aka darkight JMO

The fact of the matter is most people ditching a 05-10 model mustang for an 11 are doing so because of the engine. Period. Yah yah there are other improvements but you know as well as I do it's all about the 412 horses.

That being the case. I have to laugh about it. Because if they want more performance THAT bad there are a lot better ways to go faster than spending another $16,000 + trade on a car with an extra 112 crank hp.

Agreed. I think the 5.0 is a great new engine.
But I love the looks of my car and just the car as a whole.
I can make those HP numbers and more if I wish and so so without spending that much friggin cash AND keep the looks and other things I love about my car.

I'm keeping my car because it is the car I LOVE.
Not because I am knocking the 5.0.
I like my car better.... simple as that.

When Ford took over Shelby production in the 60's(starting with the '68 cars), isn't that basically what the 2007-2008 Shelby GT represent? A Mustang with unique features that distinguish it from lesser Mustangs? The '68 GT350 had a run of the mill 302 4V with only 250hp, but what are these cars worth in top condition? What, $75,000-$100,000? What's a '70 Mach 1 with a 300hp 351C worth in similar condition? $40,000-$50,000? The '70 Mach 1 would run circles around a '68 GT350(as the new 5.0L would do the the '07-'08 Shelby GT), but which is the car everyone would nearly unanimously choose? I'm just saying..........

yes trust me i do know about taking it to vegas and having them re-register it that way.. ive been dreaming of the day when i can finally do that. i bought my car last year from the dealer with 189.00 miles on it and am still paying it off. im thinking about the 5.0 because i would only add an extra $100 and some change a month to my current loan to trade in my car. which i can currently afford. i wont be able to take my car to vegas for some time now. and extra 13gs to upgrade is a lot. even though trading in for the new 5.0 will be the same maybe a little more, its just the fact i can finance it lol im sure the shelby plant in vegas wont let me have monthly payments to upgrade me car haha. But none the less taking my car to the shelby plant in vegas is definately the only way i want to mod my car performance wise!!!!

You could always join a credit union(if you don't already) and refinance your Shelby & borrow against it's value(if you have equity in it) and use that to take it to Shelby in Vegas. You might have to come up with capitol to satisfy the credit union, but I think investing in your Shelby GT will always be more financially sound than with a new 5.0L. You're gonna lose money no matter what, but the Shelby has the difference in status that will make it desirable in the future IMO
