09cs, the hot rods are going to sound fantastic with or without longtubes. the main factor with regard to sound is the cats. i ran my hot rods with the stock exhaust manifold with an off road H pipe and it was A number one. you can't go wrong with any possible combination.

Longtubes definatly change the sound. Even with HF cats its loud. You can quiet it down with a muffler but its still gonna have that heavy breathing tone associated with longtubes. Cams excentuate that tone.

I'm actually running them with stock manifolds and stock midpipe w/cats. O/R H pipe was my next mod, but after putting them in I am reconsidering. At this point I think the loudest I want to go is high flow cats.
