Default Standard SCT tunes v. BAMA

Ok, here is the deal.

If I order the Steeda intake w/ the SCT Tuner from American Muscle, I get the 3 tunes from BAMA.

I have a local shop which is $10 more, he is a friend, actually was a roommate for awhile. However the tunes would be the ones from SCT, they have a dyno tuner and all of that, but the car does not warrant that. Not too mention they would install it and if I have any problems they will look at it right then and there. lol

My question is with the following modifications:

FRPP 3.73 gears
FRPP stinger axle - back exhaust
Steeda complete cold - air intake
Hurst Short Throw (doesn't matter, but hey, lol)

Would I be fine with going with the SCT tunes, or would it be a tremendous difference to have the BAMA tunes???

Any help would be great, looking to make a decision here within minutes, lol

Custom tunes all the way. BAMA OR BRENSPEED or anyother performance shop that offers custom tunes

I am being told C&L Street intake w/ Diablo sport tuner. It would take into account my gears, exhaust, and the intake. He is telling me that is the way to go, so confusing, lol. American Muscle wants $643 for the kit, I could get it from him w/ Diablo sport tuner for $610. Money isn't the thing, for me is just making sure I understand that there is not too much if any of a difference in getting the diablo sport tune vs bama or brenspeed.

Yes you are right in that u need a handheld to take full advantage of the mods. You might also consider if you ever consider longtubes someday then u will want the CAI that has the removeable insert. Airraid and JLT both have these. Just something to think about if your gonna install longtbubes ever. I know alot of guys here use the SCT. And I really dont know which one is better i just know that some tuners dont use diablo so keep that in mind. I myself have the SCT and its been a sinch to use

U will want custom tunes from bama or brenspeed. I have heard that the tunes that come with the say SCT or Diable are good but nearly as great as the tunes from said perfromance tuners.

Regardless of the CAI and handheld unit, it's the quality of the tune that is the kicker. Either the Diablo or SCT are fine.

IMO, you'll be better off with the AM custom tunes (which are BAMA tunes from Doug except written for the SCT) over the Diablo canned tunes even though your "guy" may be able to tweak the canned tunes. Unless he's REALLY REALLY experienced on our engines, I wouldn't go there.

+1 on what Nuke said. Unless you tuner has experience and is reptuable with tuning S197s, I would go with the American Muscle/Bama tunes.

I'm very comfortable with his work on S197s he has done some serious work with several here in Florida. He would not tune it via the hand-held it would be the ones from diablo, i could have them dyno tune, but that is a waste with my mods.

So then there is a difference when going the route of BAMA or Brenspeed tunes, that is what i wanted to try and understand then.

As far as steeda or c&l either is good with the BAMA tunes, any suggestions one way or another

I would go with SCT/ AM route. Either intake is good with the Bama tunes.

There's no measureable difference between the CAI's; I don't care WHAT comparisons are posted. It's the tune that counts. The AM tunes (now that Doug from Bama is there) and the Brenspeed tunes are about as good as custom mail-order tunes get.

The C&L Racer will only provide additional gains if you're internally modified and/or heavy FI since the CAI isn't the weak link in how much air the engine can make use of on a non-modified engine.
