Default My 5.0 4 days old 1500 miles

Just got got back from a great drive. Left home (Akron, Oh) at noon Fri. and drove to Wytheville Va. Got up Sat AM and drove south to the BRP. Had some rain but really enjoyed the drive. Saw a new (black w/white stripe) GT going the other way. Drove west to the Tail of the Dragon and then up to Knoxville where we spent the night. Finished the drive home today. The car is great. I averaged 23mpg, which I feel very good about.

Sounds like you got some good quality time with the new steed. Was that mpg with the 3.73 gears and average what speed?

I'll probably be taking mine on the open road soon, got some time off so I might go check out some houses in Clovis, NM, then visit the folks in Idaho.

3.55's and I wish I had the 3.31's. I usually start out in 2nd. Drove the Dragon in 3rd gear and never needed to downshift even in the tightest 180's.

Street - 3.31
Drag - 3.55 (For stock tires)
Open Track - 3.73 (Makes 5th more usable)
Just my personal opinion,

I hardly ever use 1st on the street either (3.55). I only use 1st on steep up hill starts. 2nd on flat ground and 3rd on down grades.

PS As far as I know the Showroom Stock Record is still held be a 3.31 Geared Car.

I like the 3.31's my car came with. It gives great idle speed for highway cruising. I've seen a consistent 27 mpg highway. I also did an autocross and was able to stay in first gear the whole time!! WOOT!

Yah, got a few waves and a couple thumbs up. A guy in a gas station pulled out and then came back to ask about the car. Wanted to know what the deal was with the 5.0 on the fender.
