Cold-Air Intake: Mustang Racing Technologies
I just got the current issue of 5.0 Mustang & Super Fords and, included, is a 2005 Mustang Performance Parts Buyer's Guide.
I was reading through this and noticed that one of the intakes listed is from Mustang Racing Technologies (MRT) called the MRT/SSD cold-air intake.
The bolt-on kit includes a smooth flow air-intake tube, a new mass airflow sensor housing to maintain proper air/fuel ratio, K&N air filter, and an enclosed air box to shield from engine compartment heat.
I was just curious to know if anybody has heard of it or has it installed and if it requires a tuner. Also, what kind of performance gains does it produce?
Thanks!

RE: Cold-Air Intake: Mustang Racing Technologies
If I'm not mistaken the founder/owner of MRT was a Ford engineer and worked on the Bullit and Mach 1 projects. Also, I believe MRT races Mustangs and that is the test bed for the products they sell. After doing some research on a suspension kit I purchased a set of springs, struts and shocks from them. I'm totally happy with the set-up. But just as importantly I was impressed with their customer support. Any technical question I posed to them (via E-Mail) they answered knowledgeably quicky. Anyway, as far as the set-up you are considering requiring a tuner and the horsepower gain - I think if you ask MRT they will give you an honest answer
