Gman, I don't have dyno numbers to back it up but I would bet my results would be the similar to yours. More hp and less torque.

I have been told cams will pass smog as long as your tune is gtg.

I don't see how long tubes would make you emissions illegal.
It's the cats you really have to worry about.

I am in Texas and while we are not as strict as Cali... we do have alot of emission laws. I had to get a catted x pipe when I had my long tubes put on for that reason.

My advice would be to ask a couple of shops around your area if you would be ok with long tubes as long as you put on a catted x pipe with it.

+1 on the catted LT's. Those cams are being saddled by lack of air flow. And depending on the cams and how much they're able to flow, an aftermarket TB in this case may help a bit too, despite the stock TB's excellent capability.

I think my next mod will be delete plates. Looks like the economy deletes would be good enough.

The feds say moving the cat location is a no no. Cali has to have carb approved cats on top of that and I believe magnaflow has the only option for carb approved aftermarket cats.

Wow Cali is a bitch eh?
Not just a catted pipe but the location has to be approved?

I guess he needs to check Magnaflow catted X pipe on his list then.
Magnaflow is tricky when it comes to how they match up pipes too.
He may have to purchase the headers from them as well.

When I had the Magnaflow cat back system NO other muffler would fit except for theirs.
You couldnt buy the components seperate because the axle back mufflers were made to fit
stock exhaust pipes while the cat back pipes had to have a specific muffler to fit their exhaust pipes,
so they were sold as a kit.

Had trouble with that when I was trying to sell them and someone simply wanted my
mufflers and not the rest of the system.

OT... Ever notice how much obnoxious exhaust comes out of a school bus? The government is always exempt from it's own asinine regulations.
