Default Dyno before and after cams

Here is a before and after cam install dyno. AM/Bama tunes. I am little bit concerned. Maybe I am putting too much emphasis on dyno numbers. When I had the car dynoed, I was told that the A/F reading was off by 1 so 11.5:1 is actually 12.5:1. My A/F was spot on. Here is a comparison of before and after cams.

I gained about 10-15 hp but lost 8-10 tq.

Which cams did you install? I'm running pretty much every basic bolt on with the Comp Cam Thumpr series and my rwhp was 320 ( and mine was dyno tuned ) so your seems pretty close.

I had comp nsr stage 2 (127200). I also compared 1/8 mile track runs before and after cams and I am running exactly the same times and that's even with D/A correction. I did talk to a tuner here in cali (ST motorsports) and they suggested seeing if my 1/4 mile times improve before getting a dyno tune.

When I had my cams I also had long tubes and a catted x installed.

I got the Hot Rod cams and with all those mods I gained about 40RWHP.
Your gains do not sound bad but still do not sound optimal.

I would go ahead and get a tune. I just think it is a good idea to do that on almost
everything you mod with these cars, and after the basic CAI, it seems to me almost everyone I talk to
do better with a dyno tune. Especially when you start modding alot and different brands and combo's come into play.

Blacksmoke is right, long tubes will allow for more aggressive cam timing.

Only problem is that I live in Cali, so it looks like L/T are out of the question.

I need to do more research on l/t and smog. Supposedly there are a few shops that are mod friendly and will not do a visual. As long as you pass the sniffer, you are GTG.

Gman73 are your cams legal? I live in SD and would love to get some and will soon be in the same place you are? I have long tubes and need to find the same answers you do.

I don't see what the problem would be with long tubes? If you get a catted mid pipe and a tune that's emissions legal I can't see why you would fail but then again California isn't the most "normal" state.
