I used to think custom plates were bleh but now..
One of my friends works at the Ford dealership here
and his dad just bought a brand new decked out 5.0.
He got all the trimmings and with his son's discount he only paid 31k for it.
He also got something else I found to be so cool.
One of the new Texas custom license plates.
It is black and white and on the left side there is a black area
with a T on it the rest of the area is white and he had 412HP put on it.
It just looked so cool on it. I could not believe how much I dug it after my history of not liking most custom plates.
Now I am considering getting one of my own.
I have one in mind:
MSLCAR
I tried some others but so many are taken.
I wish they had 7 digits available because there would be so many options.
I was thinking RICETR but that could get my car keyed pretty fast
by all the young punks around here.
What are yall's opinions on custom plates?
The black and white looked so good with his black car.
and I thought the MSLCAR thing sounded pretty darn good.
They are expensive though I will tell you that.
for 3yrs the plates are 300 bucks.
I just thought it might look cool given I am going to
car shows, etc.
Opinions? Stuid?

i was there with you, blacksmoke. always thought there was a high douche factor with regards to personalized plates. then after i bought my car my thinking changed for some reason. maybe b/c the black and white texas plates looked cool to me and i thought 'well, while i'm at it, might as well get 'em personalized, too.' ordered mine a few weeks ago. "MSLCAR" works for me. you don't want to go with the "ETMYDST" or "BLUBYU" in your face kind of things IMO. that would be douchey.

I have CHALNGER on the Challenger
(how I got that one stymies me)
and SOFAKNG on the Stang
(saturday night live skit in mind).
Its cheap in AR for vanity plates.
$300 would require the use of Vaseline....

I think they are pretty cool, but I've long since given up on them. I had a few years ago, and now I just don't bother anymore. I did however get "special" Colorado plates that have a US Flag as a backdrop and say "support our troops", I just had to make a charity donation that goes towards helping troops and their families to get those...
Here are the last ones I had on my 2003 WRX several years ago:

My Mustang plate registration cost $600 last week. I've lived in states that were $50. Arizona was crazy expensive too like Colorado. What it boils down to is each state gets its money in different ways. One of the nice things about Nevada, is it gets most of its revenue from gambling taxes. Texas was cheap on plate renewals, but they wanted $2.00 to drive 6 miles down the new tollway.
