Well I haven't driven the car more then 2 times in the past month and it was sitting untouched for 7 days before I tried to start it on Friday when I had this problem. I guess I just figured since the battery is so new that it shouldn't get drained that quick. I did an amp drain test on the system and its only pulling .2 amps when off with alarm armed so that's not bad at all. I ordered a batter tender/trickle charger that I will keep on there when it's not being driven much from now on.

I say the alt is F***ed up too. The charger on the batt is just a fix to get the car started, but if the alt is indeed dead, the batt will start the car one time, maybe a few (depending on how long he drives) and then he will need another jump. The alt will simply not recharge his batt.

Time will tell if the culprit was his batt or his alt.

A good way to tell if the batt is iat fault is if it is puffing up like a puffer fish. The batt is toast and is now junk. Time to take it out to the recycle.

Alternators on Mustangs (Fords even) in my experience are the first things to go. The alternator in my '91 literally burst into flames while the car was running. Thankfully the hood was up and I could douse it with water before too much damage could spread. Replace the alternator with a rebuilt one. You will be doing yourself a favor.

I did a voltage test and with car off the batt is putting out 12.6v, with the car running its putting 14.5. That should tell you the alt is doing its job. My only concern is if the battery was damaged at all by being drained so low. Guess I will find out soon enough, good thing the battery comes with a 3 year no questions asked warranty.

Batterys dont like to be stored discharged.
The plates start to sulfate down below 10.5Volts.
Once they start to sulfate, that area of the plates
are forever dead.
