K&N vs Steeda CAI

K&N vs Steeda CAI
I just purchased my 07 GT back in June, and the guy I bought it from had a K&N installed. Now from the majority of my experiences from all my cars, whichever one bought CAI never made a difference, but it appears that with the GT this is not the case because some like the K&N do not need a tune, while some like the Steeda do.
So my question is whether it is worth swapping a Steeda CAI in for the K&N or not. I have some Bama Custom 93 tunes on the way, and I am curious if it will make that much of a difference. My gut tells me that the type of CAI doesn't matter and there wont be a difference, but the fact that steeda is has a larger diameter is making me second guess myself!
Help Please!
Thanks!

If you are getting a Bama tune you better make up your mind which CAI you are going to
use. They have to know the specs of the CAI for your car to run correctly.
Different CAI's are different sizes. Thus more air travels through some than others.
If you run a tune that is programmed for a different CAI, you could run
rich or lean which you do not want.
I'd go with the Steeda if I were you.
Im just not a fan of K&N.

i'm going with steeda cai and bama tune...it's had the highest hp rating that i've seen so far, and i think it looks the best in the engine bay...and i've seen alot of people use it coupled with their superchargers

Thanks! Thats what I figured, I think I am just going to run the tune with the K&N for now, since it is already on the car. When I get the money and take care of some other mods first, I will then probably switch it up and have them send me a new tune.

Your tunes include the CAI type so if you ordered tunes for K&N then stick with the K&N CAI. The difference in performance between the K&N and the Steeda is minimal. But if you can afford the Steeda then by all means...

Thanks, that is what I figured. I have the free tunes for life, so I could change it up if I wanted. Maybe at some point I will since I get the feeling that CAI has been on the car for quite some time, but if its only a minimal difference, than I won't spend the money just yet.

Testing has shown increases of up to 38 HP and 30 ft lbs of Torque to the rear wheels with Steeda's Cold Air Kit combined with our Custom SCT Tune.
Also independent test results have proven gains of over 4 HP and 5 ft/lbs of Torque over the entire RPM range of the so called 'leading brands'.Give me a call for special pricing when you are ready.
