Default E85 in stock lines?

Is it ok to run E85 through your stock fuel and system without damage(yes I know it will require tuning)
I am planning on going turbo after the first of the year and want to tune on E85. Planning on going with GT500 pumps and FRPP 80lb injectors

Nobody has had any problems yet. All modern vehicles are made to be compatible with ethanol since it has mostly replaced mtbe as the main octane additive and oxegenator in pump gas some years ago. The only thing that's been reported by e85 users is the fuel filter initially has to be replaced after a few tanks of e85. The reason is it acts as a solvent to gasoline varnishes and deposits which then plug the filter.

There aren't many people on this forum running e85. However there is alot of experience on some of the other Mustang forums. A google search would turn up a few places to look.

I can tell you that I'm running 80lb injectors with GT500 pumps and ran out of fuel pump at 575rwhp. I'd imagine a turbo would be good for another 50 or so hp with the same fuel system. One of the really good attributes of e85 for a performance motor is it's high resistance to detonation. I'm at 14psi and 21 degrees of timing currently. I plan to try 23 degrees just as soon as sct activates my pro racer software.

Well, yes and no. It raises your octane level making it less likely to detonate at a given timing level. But you can still detonate on it if you go too far.

I'm running 21 degrees of timing with 14 pounds of boost. My compression ratio is 9.5:1. No hint of detonating. There are guys running alot more boost and timing who can't get the car to detonate.

I get what you're saying. I guess I just didn't want people thinking it was THE miracle solution to detonation. I just went about it in the wrong way. But I guess with the octane rating ethanol provides, it would be hard to get detonation, even on radial street builds.

Theres an E85 station 4 miles from my house. I'd like to know if I could pick up any hp on my N/A setup.

All good info, thanks.

I talked to my tuner and he said that E85 is good to use if decent gas isn't an option(which 89 E10 is the best pump gas within 30 miles or so), so that is why I want to run E85. That and for the detonation resistance.
