Default Is a '05 Mustang GT Coupe worth 19K? eBay has 13K regular price for them.

Hey, my last car got totaled by some lady with no citizenship or insurance and just decided to run a red light right into my Nissan Altima. so I was looking around at used Mustangs (for a good price).

I had a saleman come to me and offer me a Mustang GT '05 V8 (15K miles) that had a spoiler, stripe painted on it, and a shaker 1000.

It's offering me about 18,800 out the door. (Reg price about 18K without fees).

I've noticed that eBay has similar mustang GT's (some with additional features) for a lot cheaper, usually around 13-14K. And that's the buy it now price, not bidding price.

So I was just wondering yalls take on it. Is it worth 19K or should I look elsewhere? It's my first mustang and I'm new to all this. I'm not sure how to get good prices on cars. He said I was getting a 'steal' on this car, but he's a salesman... :/

Thanks!

If it's in mint condition, you checked the CAR FAX and you like it....not bad. It has a Shaker 1000 which is great for a stock stereo, after-market rims which are nice....seems like a nice car. I have seen cheaper mustangs.....I would shoot for $16,000 out the door with all fees and taxes......that's about the right price for a mustang in great condition. Good luck....update us if you get the car!!

I would recommend that you keep looking or try to get him down to below $16K out the door... I bought my 2005 Premium about 8 months ago with only 5,800 miles on the odometer, painted stripes, and shaker 500. Paid $18K out the door. Mind you this was before the 5.0's came out. Now that the Coyote is out, the value for the 4.6 has gone down a little.

If you are able to wait to commit, I would look for an 08+. The earlier S197's have the older style head that is notorious for the plugs breaking off in them. The 08's have the newer style head and don't have this same concern.

Also, the one in the picture looks nice.... however, I personally can't stand those rims... If they float your boat, then my hat's off to you... But if you don't like them, try to negotiate a lower price and maybe better looking rims...

Good luck and welcome to the site.

Don

I've been seeing '10 GT's going for not much more than that. I'd probably have to be taken to the hospital for excessive hysterics if a salesman tried offering me an '05 GT for anything over $15-16k.

Oh, and those god-awfull 20" wheels have GOT to go...

Those rims give me nightmares.

Anyways, you can easily get an 05 GT for 14-15 k. I'd say keep looking

alright thanks. yeah, i guess I'll keep looking.

I've always been a altima/features kind of guy (I love the push start and push unlock feature). But after the dealership let me take home the car for a day, and from all the compliments I got, I got really attached to it. Never been in a car with that much power before.

Anyone ever had any experience from eBay? I saw used '10 mustang GT's for about 15K ish. Still cheaper than what he's trying to offer me.

You can find a better deal and probably find a newer one for that price with better rims

He's asking way too much and like everybody said, those wheels have GOT to go......hideous!!!

Got my 06 GT with 15k miles for $15,600 in Oct 09 from a dealer. You will find a great car cheaper.....dont be in a rush and you'll find it.

Id suggest autotrader, use the search and sort features. You can find one's local to you and go look at them before buying.

And yes, that was waaay too much. Granted, I took my time looking but when I bought my 06 GT used in spring of 09, I got it fully loaded with 25k miles for 14,500. That's not normal but if you look around hard enough, you can find kickass deals.

First off he should give you a 1500 dollar credit because that is at least what you will have to spend to replace those disgusting, horrible, and embarrassing rims. The previous owner should be beaten for putting those on a mustang (not that they belong on any car).

I paid 16.5k for my nearly 2.5 years ago for my 05 with leather and shaker 500 with only 22,00o miles.
