Default 5.0 or C6 Vette

I have a question about choice: If you could buy either a new 5.0 or new C6 Corvette (Base or GS)....what would it be? Don't let money/cost be a factor. What would be a better choice for you and why? All input will be appreciated. In the Vette forum they have an interesting thread on Vette vs 5.0. The Vette guys have some concern with the 5.0. Under C6 tech-performance "5.0 Mustang vs LS2 Vette vs LS3 Vette"

I really don't look at them as competition.....2 seater vs 4 seater sport cars.....still, I will keep the Mustang. Easier in and out of and still fun to drive. Makes a good DD or weekend only vehicle.

I agree...the mustang is definitely easier to get in and out off.

I've always been a Ford guy...but have nothing against the Vette. As previously stated, if it was my only car, the Mustang would be it because of Family (4 seats). And also because I just love Mustangs! If I already had a new 5.0 in the garage and had a ton of money to spend, a Vette would fit in the other bay of my garage quite nicely!

Seriously, I think they are very different types of cars with different types of owners. It all comes down to what you like best, and what you can afford.

I agree. A vette if it's going to be a "have fun only car" and a mustang for DD with fun factor.

Assuming we get to keep the cars that we already have, there is no doubt that I'd take the Vette. As someone who enjoys road courses much more than drag strips, the Vette is definitely the better tool.

Besides, my car is faster than both a C6 or a 5.0 GT... I don't need to go any faster in a straight line, but I would love a better handling car.

One of the big reasons why I chose ford over chevy is because ford went dohc. Dohc allows you to get considerably more power out of a given displacement
So ford is able to cut displacement down to only 5 liters and still keep up with the 6.2L pushrods

Honestly after racing an 03 vette with work done to it and seeing how close they are I'd take my stang. I am probably being biased but the stang is just more comfy and the sync and shaker 1000 are amazing for factory equipment.
