Door Panels?

I've used the 3M Upholstery Spray glue, and it lasted about 8 months. Most recently, I tried the Woodward Contact Cement (brush-on) that is featured in a video on this site, and it looks like it won't last a month. My next step will be to take it to an upholstery shop, and if that doesn't last, there are some plastic inserts that I will install: (video linked)

There's a whole thread about this here....

Personallyl, ANY leather or vinyl material will peel off over time. The reason is that the materials expands and contracts with temperatures. That constant shifting causes the material to eventually pull away from the door. My 2008 just started to lose adhesion. I'll be doing what I did for our 2006 escape that had the same issue, pulling them off and replacing them with a cloth insert. Cloth doesn't have the same issue as the vinyl/leather and the adhesive also soaks in a bit to the backside of the cloth so that further enhances the grip.

The most important thing is cleaning the old insert. The foam has broken down and it needs to be completely clean. If you just spay glue on it, expect it to come off again because the foam continues break down.

I agree, I wire brushed all the old stuff and cleaned with lacquer thinner as it cuts about everything and let it dry for a long time before I proceeded.. Thanks On the SVE door kit I couldn't find it on their site and it had a lot of bad reviews. They might not have them any more....

My brother an extremely gifted car buff told me to use Phenoseal Vinyl Adhesive Caulk goes on white, dries clear.
Clean up the old stuff, spread this stuff on and press into place. Good thing is that it is water soluble so clean up is a breeze you can get it right to the edges without worry. I did mine over a year ago in the hot and humid climate, the cold and humid climate of North Carolina and it is still holding on my '05 GT.
FYI, he uses this stuff for a lot of "car stuff" and even used on the "logos" or whatever you call them the may be attached to the wheel hubs, and they stay stuck years later. a very versatile product. FWIW
