Hi, nice work. How would you rate the install/fitment of the system?
|
The install went well. I think that the instructions leave a lot to be desired but if you have some decent mechanical ability and aren't worried about taking your time to adjust the pipes and what not it is a very good kit. I don't mean that the kit has any problems, you just need to take your time and make sure you install it properly, just like anything else that is this extensive of a mod. Overall, very happy with the kit.

Cool. I agree....looks like fun! I like the design of this system.
Is the On3 a 5lb system? Once you start it let us know how it sounds/works? I don't know much about the latest turbos but, the rear mounted turbos scare me. Plumbing all the way to the back wheel seems distant for lack of a better word?? Seems like a lot of connections to tighten every month, plus wear and tear from the roads. The rear mounted turbo's sound great when I'm driving next to one. Your kit is the first front mounted turbo I seen for the S197. Good luck |
I am a member on another mustang forum site dedicated specifically to s197s and theri are a few guys their that run this turbo kit. THey say that after it is installed and you heat cycle it, give it a once over to make sure everything is still tight and then you are good to go. I believe that the waste gate comes with a 6lb spring in it and you get more springs with the kit to add more boost. I also bought a manual boost controller and the extra springs and boost controller will be going with me to the tuner to dial it in. I also bought a set of cherry bomb extreme axle back mufflers to go on the car.
I would definetly stay away from the rear mount turbo kits. Not only do you have to worry about the piping all the way back there and then back to the engine, but think about the turbos. You have to run oil lines all the way to the back of the car to lubricate and cool the turbos. Then you have to run a scavage pump to pump the oil back to the engine after it leaves the turbos. If that pump fails then so could you turbos or engine for that matter. |
Sounds great...hope to hear dyno results from you!!!

Thats a great looking kit.. how much power are you making to the wheels??

numbers are in guys, stayed conservative for a little while
Mustang Dyno numbers on 6.5 psi 411hp 418ft/lbs Feels like a whole new car! There is plenty of room left with the fuel and MAF. I think that he said the timing is at 17 iirc. It was about 8:00 when we quit and I had a 3hr drive back home yet so I didn't want to spend anymore time there yesterday messing with a boost controller or changing springs so I told him to just leave it there. I will probably go back and up the boost a little once I get used to it like this and get some suspension parts to help plant the new found power!! I thought I would share my cost list to complete this build so here it goes. . . Valve Cover Breathers New $68 Boost Gauge Ebay $39 Boost Controller New (didn't use) $70 FRPP 80lb Injectors Used $260 On3 Turbo Kit w/ MP T70 Turbo and HPX MAF New $2530 CMDP $70 Heat Wrap New $27 Oil Restrictor $13.50 GT500 Fuel Pump Kit $630 Xcal 3 and HTOs Used $300 Roush Vent Pod New $33 Cherry Bomb Extremes Used $75 Tune $500 Misc Fittings $50 Total $4665.50 __________________ |
