Okay, an update. My gas mileage has returned to normal (16.7-17 mpg) with the last couple of tanks so I think it was indeed the heat and humidity we were having. I get gas from a different location almost every time, still trying to see if there is one brand better than the rest. To be honest, I've gotten the highest mileage more consistently with Race-Trac, one of the cheapest stations around. Not sure what that's about. I had a friend tell me he consistently get's 2mpg more with Love's gas but I only know of one of those around here and it is out of the way (they are a truck-stop type station).

So compared to Spencer069, I should be damn happy with my mileage and I am. It's probably about 2/3 highway but even that is stop and go sometimes. Has anyone ever gotten 25+ from their ride on a highway trip or something?

I'm actually fond of driving in the mornings with the windows down and the A/C off but a fellow at work tells me that it was proven that this is actually the same or worse as driving with the A/C on and windows up because of the turbulence and wind resistance it causes. Anyone heard of this before?

FRAG!

YES... Myth Busters had an entire program where they had 2 SUV's they drove around a race track for HOURS. First with AC.. then with Windows. They actually ever so slightly BETTER milage with the AC on.
