Default exhaust backfire/pop

hey, i have a stock 2005 mustang gt automatic with muffler deletes. car runs great. but when i smack the throttle at about 40 mph it seems to backfire/pop. it doenst hurt performence or anything. is it just because i have muffler deletes and no tune? any info is greatly appreciated. thanks. if i floor it from any point lower than 40 mph it doesnt seem to do it.

i never noticed it before, just started noticing it. its only got 77,000 miles on it. i dont think it could be bad spark plugs because wouldnt it do it all the time if it were spark related?

A lot of aftermarket exhaust systems pop, and I wouldn't be surprised if muffler deletes did the same. The most common time for it though is just after the car is cold started. It might still happen in the given conditions though...I'm not sure.

if it pops on decel then its the muffler deletes
if it pops on accel then there is something wrong.

I had the Pypes MM and an O/R x pipe and it would pop a little bit when I first dropped a gear at highway speeds. My car is a manual though and I don't know if it was exactly what you are trying to explain. Any way you can get a video?

This is where a video would help a lot. If it indeed is a "backfire" then there's a problem. If it's just popping then that is probably a product of the muffler deletes. My popping and crackling went away when I ditched the MM and went to the Stingers. I never mistook it for a backfire but I could hear the popping, especially when I was next to a jersey wall. I put the CAI/tune on the car the same day the exhaust went on so I couldn't tell you if it would be worse without a tune, or if it would even make a difference.

only does it when i smack the throttle around 40 mph. its a loud pop. performence is not being affected at all. i would think that if it was spark related wouldnt it do it at all rpms?
