Foglight HID's
Hey all. I'm having a slight "problem" with the HID's I installed in my foglights. It's not so much my problem, but a problem for drivers going in the opposite direction and I've had a lot of high beams flashed at me since installing them. The HID's shoot light pretty much everywhere (Probably due to their circular design?). Is there any way to aim the foglights or is there any solution you guys with HID foglights have used? I'd hate to get pulled over by a police officer for blinding them.
Thanks. (PS - I've searched through threads and noticed that lights getting capped helps a bit but are there any other solutions?) |
Folks, if you're having problems understanding just what he's saying, allow me to translate into more... pedestrian terms:
Hey all. I'm having a slight "problem" with my fists, after I installed these brass knuckles. It's not so much my problem, but a problem for the people on the sidewalk I punch in the face while walking down it. People keep telling me I'm a menace to society, and these brass knuckles just keep spraying blood everywhere as I pummel their faces. Is there any way to perhaps redirect the flow of blood so it doesn't get all over my body? Or any other solution for you guys that also grievously assault people on a random basis? I'd hate to get arrested for attempted murder. Thanks. And now for the response: Fog lights are designed very specifically to project light in a cone in front of it - that includes up as well as down and to the sides. By putting HID bulbs in them, you are in essence transporting over to their car, holding their eyelids open A Clockwork Orange-style, and shining an aircraft searchlight directly into their eyeball. The solution is to TAKE THE GODDAMN HIDS OUT OF THE FOG LAMP HOUSINGS YOU RAVING LUNATIC! |
1. If you're running fog lights when it's NOT FOGGY, then I think I see your problem.
2. The reflector for the fogs were never intended for higher power than what a 55 watt halogen lamp puts out. And if you removed the integral anti-glare device, shame on you. THe S197 GT's fog lights are actually designed to be functional. Misuse isn't one of them. If you want your car to look like an alien space ship expect to piss off other drivers. I think people that try to look "fashionable" by blinding others are irresponsible. There's a reason why cops stop cars for blinding lights. |

I had to come back to this thread after I LMAO with flashbacks while responding to another thread. I think I don't need to say that Hawkeye and I think alike when it comes this topic.

i have HIDs in my fogs, they are lower wattage than the factory bulbs at 35W. Never been flashed myself or anything and i run them all the time for better light since its so dark out in rural Texas. As for the glare issue, my fogs have GTS covers which blocks some of the light output, you might try that OP. and to be perfectly honest i have been blinded more by factory HID cars than any car running aftermarket HIDs. SUVs like all the caddy's and MBs around here that are high off the ground are much more blinding than any car, mine included. i also happen to think having HID heads and normal fogs is a bit strange looking when they are turned on.

6k iirc, not the coolest, but right above that. tints or covers will cut the glare
