Default Has anybody heard of this?

My friend Jason who has an identical '05GT to mine came over today and
during our conversation told me that his girl friend was following him
one day at 70+ MPH and noticed the rear bumper seemed to be very
loose and moving in and out very quickly and that she thought the
license plate was about to come loose.

After stopping, he checked the bumper, pulling it from the bottom under
the license plate and it was very "loose". After checking it out he was told
it was common only to GT bumpers. He took it to his dealer and they knew
about it and put some sort of bracing on it and now it is very solid.

I tested my bumper and it is also very sloppy. Has anybody else heard
of this and if so what was done to correct it?

Mine goes in tommorow to get fixed 8-30. My dealer told me they have not had any other mustang come back as often as mine to get "silly" stuff corrected. Thanks to all that keeps informing me of these "silly" problems. Didn't know my bumper was loose until I read this thread!

Adrenal - Check out my post from this thread. (https://mustangforums.com/m_676683/tm.htm)
It is a list of current and past issues, one of which was the exact same bumper problem!!

Adrenal, back from the dealer I bought my car from (9:30 AM). It was a very short trip. They told me there was nothing they could or would do with the bumper. We actually went out to the lot and he verified that just about every GT did the same thing brand new. He said he has never heard of this as a complaint before and until a TSB comes out on it they can not make a warranty claim to correct it unless it actually breaks. How did they "Brace" your buddy's car? My opinion is that if it does break they would just put the same thing back on it again and that is not acceptable to me. I have been under the back of the car and I see no factory holes that might support a brace. Just wondering how. Thanks

Here are the pics that show the stronger support bracing Jason's dealer put on the rear bumper to correct the problem.

From the pics it looks like they just fabbed one single center brace and held it in with Expandable foam adhesive on the bumper? I see traces of expandable foam at the top of the bumper cover also, did they fill the area between the top of the steel bumper and the cover also? Ingenious (polite term for cheap) fix. I am almost in disbelief that a dealer did that for your buddy! But I am 100% certain I can do it for myself. Thanks for the pics!
