Default TPMS Questions

Does anyone know this.... if I replace my existing rims and tires with take-offs (already having sensors and mounted) will the sensors work ? if not, how can I resolve this?

Make sure you have the correct sensors for the model year. Either band type or valve sensors. Then you require specialized tool in order to calibrate to your computor. Available from Ford dealer for about $35. My dealer used their own more powerful tool at no charge. Takes 5 minutes.

Cheers.

nemosgt is correct, once you have the correct style sensor then off to a tire shop with a basic TPMS retrain tool can get them working

+1, providing the sensors are the correct model.

lol it's such a jip.. all it consists of is a hand held device, turning the key on/off a few times and then going to each sensor starting from the passenger rear and then around.

Gotta love the dealership

Just curious -- but could a ECU tuner "tune out" the TPMS check? Or is that handled by an entirely different system?

The TPMS is a stand-alone system and is unrelated to the PCM. A tune cannot disable it.
