I was offered a C&L cold air intake and a CTS xcalibrator 2 for a very good price. it came off a 05 Here is the problem yes it is unlocked but it is not for my 09 some say I can have a custom tune done for it others say don’t do it for my car it was not meant to be used on my car? So if I can have it retuned for my car who? And what should I expect to pay to have it done? Or do I sell it to someone that has a car that it will work on? I would like to make it work that seems like my most affordable choice.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.

You should be able to plug it in and install an SCT canned tune as the SCT handhelds support 3 different vehicles. A good tune will run anywhere from $150 - $200 via email.

I'd say contact the Bamma guys at americanmuscle.com or brenspeed and have them make a custom tune for you before you use it. That way the tune is for your car specifically. But other than that you should be able to use it.

+1

But I wouldn't attempt it until you've uploaded a custom tune for YOUR PCM in the handheld. Too many folks have tried to use canned or custom tunes previously loaded for another vehicle and have run into no-start issues.

It wouldn't be a canned tune for another vehicle. The SCT can separate up to 3 cars and hold tunes for them all you have to do is plug t in I believe the XCal 2 has this feature as well.

Check this out I called C&L today and talked to them about my options and you guys are right about American muscle doing the tune. The very helpful guy that I was talking to was telling me how much I would gain with the different tunes and he said something about the 91 octane and I told him I did not want to do the with the price of gas going up and up. So he said that I should just use the no tune tube without changing the tune.
Cool just what I wanted to do for now. I will still send the tuner in to have it setup for my car for those times I want to bump it up.

They should be able to do an 87 octane tune. It will be a little better than the stock tune.

Actually, a good 87 custom tune from AM or Brenspeed is SIGNIFICANTLY better than the stock tune. Changes due to stepping up from the custom 87 to a custom 89, 91 or 93 tune are not as dramatic but definitely noticeable.
