So the answer is 'no'? Yes?

Just curious.

While this and other problems suck with the new stang, it is typical and reminds me of my golden rule when it comes to car buying....
Never purchase a 1st year run on a new generation automobile no matter how tempting. Bugs like this are always relevent and take time to be addressed. Good luck to the guys effected, I hope the media coverage helps get things resolved.

If I manufactured something and had a 1% failure rate (10 out of 1,000), I'd be locking the doors. In reality a 1% failure rate is dismal when you're mass producing for the public. In the nuclear industry, we're concerned when a product we rely on has even a 0.01% failure rate. Even a single failure of a safety related device due to a manufacturing problem requires notification to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission under 10CFR21.
which plant do you work at man? I'm with SNC Hatch.

I thought the dealership had found/corrected the problem. I haven't heard of any 2012 issues and on a forum where a lot of 2011-2012 owners post there have been threads about how they figured/fixed the issue..

For most it was a pressure plate issue where the screws were backing out I believe.. i could go pull the thread, but I haven't seen anyone not treated well or having the issues mentioned, i did hear of people going back multiple times, but that was when they were still figuring out the issue.

here is what one person had to say about his issue:

"So I took my car in last Friday to Ford. It has been increasingly harder to shift the car into 1st and 2nd, and the car would grind into most gears. There has been a faint whine from the trans since ~1K miles on the dial. Car has 2800 miles on it now. Great technician at Ford warrantied it out and here is his right up:

Verify the customers concern. Remove the transmission from the car. All six bolts for the pressure plate were loose. Due to the loose pressure plate bolts the 3 alignment pins in the flywheels were snapped off. R&R the flywheel and the 6 pressure plate bolts. Change the trans fluid to the correct fluid and bleed the clutch assembly. Roadtest. THe clutch is working as it should be and there is no grinding gears.

3: XT-11-QDC (fluid-trans)
1: BR3Z-6375-C (flywheel asy)
6: W715869-S439 (bolt and was)
2: PM-1-C (fluid - brak)
Before I brought the car in shifting was very notchy. Now it shifts smooth as butter... huge difference, wow! Also, the clutch feels a lot lighter and engages nicely. Happy to be drivin the stang again "

Red Communist Chairman Mao Tse Tung is responsible for the murders of 50,000,000 (50 million) chinese during the communist revolution. Never trust a Red Communist for anything except tyranny and death, and the cheapest $300.00 transmission Ford can buy.

Henry would be ashamed.

i think the vast majority of folks aren't having these lockout issues. Rather they are having the grind and bad shifting when the car is cold. TBH i think the issue in the 10 down cars was almost as bad where they wouldn't shift from 2-3 at WOT without a grind. most of those guys just sucked it up. i think the issue here with the 11-12's is that the new 5.0 bought a bunch of new mustang owners in that didn't have experience with these cars. to me between the 05 had, the 10 i traded, and the new 12 boss the 05 and 10 had the worst transmissions.

I couldn't shift that 10 for crap from 2-3 quickly at WOT it just wasn't going to happen. the boss has a slight catch on 2-3 when cold, but after the car warms its fine. Ive also noted on a month of driving the 12 now that the gears are much closer together in lateral movement. by that i mean when shifting from 2-3 4-5, not 1 to 2. it's very easy to hit the shift gate or whatever you want to call it and think the tranny doesn't want to shift.

that said there is certainly an issue on some cars where the shifter wont move or the pedal stuck to the floor early on

That's why I asked about the other thread where Jmatero says FoMoCo has a Fix that is pending release...I wonder if the items above are related to it?
