engine swap

what besides the obvious increase in potential output and overall "haulassitude". I would be curious to know the max size as well, but the amount of money to support something that lage, in regards to the rest of the car, would be high.

A modern DOHC (5.4) engine fit in these cars, which are the widest motors Ford produced for a Mustang.
The fit in the engine bay isn't a concern as much as the weight you would add with this 588.

I agree, if you're going to add weight to the front I'd try and find a wrecked GT-500 and take the motor out of that if you want "haulassitude"!!!

If you're going to take the engine out of a wrecked GT-500 it is going to cost you a ton of time and money. You'd be way better off just selling your GT and buying a used GT500, this would in the end probably cost a lot less and you wouldn't have to worry about any problems with fitment.
