Default Won't Start...?

Just got a 2006 gt, it had been in storage for a few years and the previous owner had mothballs in it so the smell is still lingering. So last night i parked it in the garage, opened it up and had a fan on it. But I did disconnect the positive battery cable so it wouldn't be dead. Just now I reconnected everything and right away heard a clicking noise under the passenger side of the dash, almost sounds like a turn signal? But the car will not start, I tried jumping it, didn't do anything. And it's not even making the "clicking" noise like it would if the battery were dead.

Do a search on battery and alternator. These S197's have a lousey charging system and the OE MotorCrap batteries are typically pretty bad. Have both the battery and the alternator load tested since when one goes, the other is sometimes not far behind.

i agree take the battery to the parts store and get it tested and check the owners for a safety cut off switch idk if it has one or not but sounds like the battery

I beleive the safety cutoff switch you're refering to is the switch that cuts off the fuel supply in an accident. Even IF it's that switch, the engine would still crank, just not turn over.

if it was a battery issue, wouldn't the radio, lights, etc. not work? Could it be a possible ignition issue? maybe one with the key? I'd try a spare if I had one.

ya ur right its not the fuel cut off switch if its not cranking its most likely ur battery radios and accesorys dont pull as much power as ur starter i can almost guarantee its the battery if you have u multi meter check how much volts u have at the batt and then have someone turn the key while u check it with a multi meter if its a standard tranny u can push start it and take it to the auto part store and test the battery for free if ur batt is really bad it wont start even jumpstarting it

Still not sure what the problem was. But after having it hooked back up and sitting for an hour or so, it started right up. Is there a certain way you're supposed to unhook the battery?
