Dave you would not believe how bad it is here in Houston. They are payimg officers to work 12 hour overtime shifts 24/7 till they can figure out what to do with all the people. The news doesn't put out stuff like the over 400 pistols they have confiscated from the "victims". It's a mess and I don't see it getting better any time soon. I thnk our permanent population just increased by 100,000. I don't see most of these people ever going back.

I dont blame them....But, Houston is to crowded as it is! That place was already crazy. Dont burn yourself out. You dont want to become a "victim" yourself..........

I am lucky because I have Sun/Mon off. Hopefully they will have things back to some normalcy by the time i get back to work Tues. (fingers crossed) I saw a caravan of 50 Houston ISD school buses heading out with a police escort going towards Louisiana last night when I was getting off. Have no idea where they are going to put the new arrivals.

I believe it, I've been hearing rumors that F.L. officers with standards are being offered $400 a day to go over there and assist. I don't know how the legal aspects of that work but they must need a lot of help to be asking for cops from here. There are a bunch of evacuees here too but no trouble so far. We had a few over for supper today after church.

More on that photo. That pic was taken on base at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi during the storm. Those people who stayed were required to stay. So the whole "goes to show you what happens when you don't leave like your supposed to" argument is null. There were no losses on base, just a lot of destruction. The base is now open again, (for evac aircraft only, obviously). They have power and phones. Biloxi is pretty messed up, especially the coastline. All those casinos are pretty much gone, especially the ones that were floating.

A pic taken saturday:

I'm from and in Jackson and I know the capitol cities population has risen..We still dont have power in my neighborhood so I have been catching pictures from the newspaper..Its hard to believe that those were taken of MS and LA. Guess i was still in shock till a friend of mine come back from the coast to retrieve his sister and her family ...He said the stench from the dead was bad ..his tone of voice was unlike anything I had ever heard from him ....I guess witnessing the aftermath first hand took its toll on him...and I'm sure it would on me as well .
