Question Tunes remove error lights?

Idk if this is true but I have heard that the flash tuners and tunes from Bama tunes can remove trouble codes like the check engine lights. Is this true? Because if not then I need to see about getting a mass airflow sensor as my light is being thrown due to an added CAI.. (and no tune)?

If I still need a new sensor, will I need a tune for the CAI or an aftermarket sensor in order to prevent that annoying light..

It's a BBK intake btw which was not supposed to require a tune?

No-tune-required CAI's have been known to throw a CEL with a code for running lean. Also, simply "turning off" the CEL and continuing to drive can eventually cause damage to your engine. Besides, a no-tune-required CAI gains you little power (maybe 3-5 RWHP)so why bother?

Order a tune to go with that BBK CAI for the 20-25 RWHP, improved driveability, better shift points, reduced throttle lag, cure for cancer, yada-yada.... With the handheld, you'll also be able to make other minor adjustments including reading any codes you throw.

I agree, CAI without a tune is an appearance mod and not a very good one at that since noone else can see it unless you drive around with no hood on. Also they can throw codes regardless of what they say for running Lean.

I was not the one that got the intake (for the record, it was a gift). If I had the money at the time I would have gotten a different intake along with a flash tuner. So please, don't crucify me.. :/

But if I get a SCT Power Flash Tuner from AM will that work? Or does it have to be specifically for BBK? And do I still need a new sensor or is the stock one still fine? because the light has honestly been on for a while.. I just ignored it.. probably not the best choice but the only one I could afford without taking the CAI off and not wasting the money..

Get the tuner and tune from AM, tell them you have a BBK CAI on it, and they'll do up the tune to match. And if you change anything in the future, they'll change the tune to match that for free. Forever.

Just be careful, though. If you put a tune on it, your wife will miscarry.

Haha. That's good stuff. I guess I'm still safe on that bet, no wife yet as I'm only 19. Another reason I ask so many questions.. Not much experience with modding cars.

So I don't need a new sensor? Just want to verify this. Because I have to pass emissions soon and I can't do it with a check engine light.

What hawkeye said and, no, you don't need a new MAF sensor. AM or Brenspeed will write the tunes based on whatever CAI and other mods you have and they utilize the same sensor.

Thanks. I just wanted to make sure because when I took it to the Ford dealer (also probably not a smart move) they "had" to replace it. So.. Yeah.. Thank you everyone for the help. Just needed to make sure what I was going to save up for next.
