Default Thoughts on the Exedy Mach 400 Stage 1 Clutch?

Hi.

It's time to replace my clutch and since my car is mildly modded (cattless, Flowmaster mufflers, C&L "Racer" + SCT SF3 Bama Tunes) I was thinking of going for the Exedy Mach 400. What do you guys think of this clutch? Anyone who has used it can give me a review or the cons and pros of it? And before you ask I'm not planning to add a lot of other modifications probably a pulley and a throttle body at best.

I was originally planning to go for a Spec 2+ but from what I've read in this thread everyone seems to advise avoiding this brand.

What do you guys think?

P.S. I can't afford an RST I'm kind of low on budget

First off...
STAY WAY FROM THE SPEC 2+!!!!!!!!
Of all the models that already have a bad rep with the SPEC clutches, the 2+ has the WORST.

Mine literally sounded like a damn horn honking when I started from a stop, and people literally thought I was honking at them.
MOST people I talked to had the same problem AS WELL as other problems. They wouldn't even stand by their product with all the problems I had and
I had to EAT the cost of their clutch, flywheel, dropping the tranny TWICE, and then the cost of having to buy a different clutch and flywheel.
------------------------------------------------------------------
That being said.... moving on.
The Exedy Mach 400 is an EXCELLENT clutch!
I had the 400 in my 06GT.
Oh and Ford Racing even uses them now on their racing vehicles.
Many vendors also use them on their cars they take to shows and the track to show off their stuff.

The Mcleod is also an excellent choice. But it is BIG bucks and if you are not going to do a crap load of mods, there is no need for it.

The SPEC clutch feels VERY close to stock.
NO chatter at ALL.
I recommend getting their flywheel as well.
Even though it weighs less it behaves JUST LIKE a normal steel flywheel, and does not have the minuses that a lightweight aluminum has.

Their clutch is steel yet weighs right in between a lightweight alum. one and a normal weight steel. It has a few BIG rectangular holes in it that actually cool off the clutch.
The thing is a work of art in my opinion.

Like I said it behaves EXACTLY like a normal steel. No chatter, not hard to take off with, and you don't get a feeling of loss of UMHPPH on the low end like you can with a lightweight alum. one.
I had NO problems with the issues that aluminum lightweights have. And I was ESPECIALLY worried about having those problems because I had cams and that with a lightweight alum. flywheel could have made the problems alum. ones have even worse.

Plus their flywheel fits and matches MUCH better than other brands.
The company and actually the distributors I have spoken to ALL recommend using their flywheel over a stock one, and DEFINITELY over another aftermarket one due to proper matching and fitment. Again man.... I highly recommend their flywheel as well. As I said I think the damn thing is a functioning work of art.

The Exedy MACH 400 is a BEAUTY of a clutch my friend.
I LOVED mine and I think you will love it as well.

Thank you so much for the input Blacksmoke that was very informative and nice of you I appreciate it.

One question though, you say:

NO chatter at ALL.
I recommend getting their flywheel as well.
Did you actually mean to say SPEC or were you going to say Exedy? Just to confirm

I meant the Exedy.
Sorry for the mistype.

The Exedy is almost identical to stock feel.
A tad bit better in my opinion.

The Exedy is a fantastic choice! I would definitely go that route!

For the price, its performance and reliability are unmatched. I have run Spec products in two separate vehicles with no complaints other than they are not as "civilized" as the Exedy.
