Question 97,000 miles, swapping out clutch & maybe gears?

my 2005 manual GT has a bit over 97,000 miles (i know) but still drives like a champ!!! Motor is real strong just the clutch has been acting up.

for like 1-3 days when shifting at high rpms from 1-2, 2-3 the car would grind and almost not want to go in.
THAT WENT AWAY...

now the car drives fine but when in nuetral after driving above 40 the car chatters/ticks. BUT will go away as soon as i push the clutch in...

most people say it is just the clutch that needs to be replaced so i was wondering which clutch is the best to get for a daily driver with just an intake, tune, and long tube headers in the next month or so???
I heard spec stage 3 is good but have read mixed reviews.
i want something good that will last but with a decent price tag.

my budget is under 500...& my mechanic is charging me 275 to change the clutch

& should i get the 4.10 gears at once???

& is there a way to check if the synchros are good with just changing the clutch?

Sorry I don't have any advice on the matter, but I'm curios since you still have stock trans and diff, do you still have the stock fluids in these? I know Ford says the manual transfer and diff are "lifetime fluids" but after draining both of mine at 35k, I highly disagree.

yes i do
im changing them sometime this week or next though..i was first told it could be harmful to the car but now that just seems ridiculous and have asked many mechanics/mustang owners since then and they highly reccomended it. did you feel a difference?

A difference, no, but once you see how your differential fluid looks, you'll be happy you're changing it. Mine at 35k looked like dirty diesel oil with considerable metal flake, so I guess the break in period was pretty rough on the fluid. Put new 75-140 Amsoil in it and their friction addative and now looks like fresh honey

The manual trans wasn't very bad at all at 35k, but considering how easy it is to change and ATF is cheap, it got some new Amsoil as well.
