Default Removed Boom tubes today

and put factory mufflers back on for now. I have been running O/R X with boom tubes for a year now... Very loud, nothing but rattles and sounds like a racecar. Boom tubes are perfect with factory mid-pipes.

I want to get something a tad bit different, probably flow masters. My Q, will I get all that rattle like I did with the boom tubes?

Also, is it me or could I have picked up a little power at higher rpms since I have some backpressure now? Felt like it

BTW, willing to trade someone mufflers????

Flowmasters will rattle MORE than your boomtubes ever did.
Just look on youtube any video of S197s with flowmasters and catless mid pipe. Awful.

Just get Borla Stingers or Pypes mid mufflers, and thank me later.

Unless, if by "rattle" you mean vibrations inside the cabin which shake any loose bolts and tooth fillings. In which case you are referring to "drone" and the only advertised axelbacks that prevent that are "Corsa". They cost a pretty penny though.

by rattle, you mean rasp?
or is something loose inside your exhaust?

flows will sound way worse with o/r x pipe.

axle backs wont give any power. its just your imagination.

i went from boomtubes to deletes, then added M80's.
my exhaust now is just as loud as the boomtubes, but has a deeper tone to it. this may be what you are after.

Sorry, referring to the nonstop rattle outback which I cannot pinpoint.

I plan to get cams soon.... I watched youtubes videos.... Flowmasters AT 60 series and O/R H sounds great.

Yes, I agree X pipe is getting old....Changing to O/R H or pro-chamber. Your car sounds great.... I wish I could just get the sound of my 99 O/R X and 40 series. I swear car if faster since installed factory mufflers, boy it's so quiet LOL.

i know what you mean about getting that 2V sound.
i also have a 2000 GT with BBK shorties, o/r h, and Mac catback. deep hollow pulsing exhaust.
also had a Fox body with shorties, o/r h, cherry bomb single chambers. even deeper sound with the single chambers.
these 3v engines have a different sound, more rasp with the x pipe. and with the mufflers in the back its less hollow sounding. but you can still make it sound good, just need a different combo than in previous years.

when i had the LT's, o/r x, and deletes, i thought i lost power with less backpressure, but i think it was more of it being so loud that i was afraid to get on the throttle as much, so it seemed like it lost power. but if i would just go WOT, it was just as fast. that may be similar to your boomtubes vs stock mufflers. just my guess.

Funny you say that, I told my my wife maybe it's just because I don't hear I think it's faster. I would love to get LT'S, I just don't know how the hell to pass emissions here in GA. I am about to put factory H back on, get emissions then buy an H pipe. Yes, I am beating on the car more since it's quiet...bad thing thanks for you input..... H pipe, Pypes mid and boom tubes may sound pretty good huh?

the M80's will smooth out the sound.
but try it with the o/r h and the boomtubes first. bc just the h pipe alone may make it sound better, less rasp vs the x pipe.
then if it still has the rasp, then add the M80's. or you can also use dynomax race bullets, or some sort of resonators welded in.
but i think the h pipe will take away most of the rasp of the x pipe.
or you could go with a prochamber and the boomtubes, but prochamber is expensive.

Think I will go that route first; O/R H pipe+Boomtubes... if it's too much, I will get the weld in M80's thanks for the input!

So, with the M80s do I need to replace any pipe or will they weld in right before the axle? ...... 2.5" diameter and 14" long right?
