Default Breakin Time

I have another question about my new 06 GT. Ive had it about a week, and of course im totally babying it, no hard acceleration, kept it under 3500 rpm. But how long should I break it in for? My dad and i both agree on a thousand miles then an oil change, then ready to lay patches. Anyone have any different ideas? Thanks guys.

Don't break her in like that... You break her in easy, she's going to want to be driven easy... Break her in hard, she'll like to be driven hard...

The only "break in" is varying the engine speed the first 1000 miles... IE no cruise control... When I'm on the highway, I will speed up/slow down, or drop a gear or two for a little while... It uses more gas, but I'm varying the engine speed...

Oh, and I don't bounce of the rev limiter, but I don't do that in "broken in" cars either... These things are ready to go from the factory...

Here is a good link on the controversial topic of engine break in. I have done this with every car I ever owned and never had issues. I drove the stang like I stole it as soon as I left the dealer.

As soon as I left the lot and duriung my test drive, I had my foot so deep in her intake manifold I thought I was gonna lose it and I have not had a problem with the cars drive train. Oh, and I run her hard every day, to the point my girlfriend and mom do not like riding with me, work has banned more than one other person from my team in my car at once (for fear of me killin to many employees), and friends, which I did not know were there, that have seen me drive come up and tell me it is obvious I love driving a sports car as I dart in and out of traffic like a running back through the line.

God I love my car! [sm=gears.gif][sm=smiley20.gif]

Thanks for all the info guys, I appreciate it. I cant wait to redline her through the gears now. I will probably need new tires in about a month!

Sorry, I should have said to warm up the engine before romping it. I do that all the time regardless. Once that temp needle is where it should be (engine warmed up), the hammer goes down...
