Default 2011 GT 5.0 - Sporadic Acceleration Issue

I have a 2011 GT Premium 5.0 (automatic), and over the last few weeks, I've been noticing a weird problem. Every now and then, I'll depress the gas pedal slightly - coming out of a dead stop or very slow idle in city traffic, and the car doesn't accelerate. If I gun it, it snaps out of it, but the gentle push of the pedal which usually is fine in these situations doesn't seem to be working anymore.

Has anyone else had this problem? Could it be a loose accelerator cable? An electronic problem? Something else altogether?

I figure I'll take it in to the dealer, but the problem is so sporadic that I'm afraid they won't be able to reproduce it.

Any ideas?

Does the new 5.0 have the same thing in the computer where it learns your habits? If so that could be it, I don't know how to reset it though, someone else will have to chime in.

Them darned new 5.0's are pieces of garbage!

90% of my money goes on a tuning issue

take it back to the dealership, get a tech to go for a ride with you in your car so that you can get it to replicate the problem so they know what to work on.

Just floor it everytime, problem solved.... But seriously that does seem like a computer issue like Maraman said try and replicate it for a dealer tech. Good luck!

Yeah, that's what I figured I'd do, it's just so sporadic that I'm concerned it won't happen at all when I go to the dealer. I hate this sort of issue.

After reading that thread it looks like you have the same problem. Its to be expected though, new parts on a new model so theres bound to be an issue or two. I hope you can get it fixed man, its a shame but things happen. Good luck.

Well, the plot thickens. Today, when I went to start my car, it just cranked for about 5 seconds and wouldn't start. I tried again, and it was fine, and has been fine since. That certainly doesn't sound like it could be related to that transmission issue, right? Sounds more like a fuel pump or vapor lock issue, no?

Guess I'll be bringing it in. Fingers crossed they can get to the bottom of these issues.

any update?

after what you've mentioned it does sound more fuel related,

fuel pump?
spark plugs?
battery or alternator?

who knows..

take it back to the dealer, and let us know what they said

No update yet. Haven't had the time to take it in yet. Strange thing is that it hasn't recurred in several days. I wonder if I had a bad tank of gas? I assume if the gas had any moisture in it, these sort of symptoms might have been possible.

Next time it happens, I'm headed in to the dealer:
