05 Mustang GT Tachometer problem
When the weather is cold (60° and lower at night w/the car parked outside) I start to have tach problems where the needle sticks and the range is off. Just a couple days ago the needle was hanging down at the 5 o'clock position and moving through the rpm range toward the 7 o'clock position (as if you were looking at a clock) over about 3 days it has now moved back to the original position but the RPMs do not read correctly (it only sweeps up to 1500 rpm or so if that, rarely working normally - sporatic). The speedometer needle stuck quickly that morning causing the MPH to read 7 faster, but it had returned back to normal and I haven't had any problems since with the speedometer.
Has anyone experience this ? And how do you fix this? Gauge or sensor problem?
Thanks for your help!

Stepper motors. They are small motors that control the needle located in the instrument pack...they're prone to failure on the '05's.i replaced mine for ~$16 which included buying a new soldering iron.
search "Mustang stepper motor" on Ebay and you'll find what you're looking for. Someone on here did a nice write up (which helped me on my repair). Good luck! You might want to go ahead and replace all six while you're in there.
It's not hard to do, just takes a little know how and time.
