Default thinking of getting 5.0 GT

I'm shopping around for summer toy car. Till yesterday I was looking only at used Corvettes. By accident I discovered that the 2011+ GT has the 5L engine and 4.5s from 0-60! I'm leaning towards the Mustang because it can seat 4 people.

I'm thinking about getting manual transmission 2011+ GT convertible or Shelby GT500 convertible. Are there any issues with 2011 GTs? What should I know about them? Same questions for 2005+ 5.4L Shelby. Thanks.

Funny u asked if there are any issues with 2011 gt's. Your thread is right below a thread stating there 5.0 blew up. The guy had a tune and his number 8 cylinder **** the bed. This has happened a few times but I dont think its something u would have to worry about. Plus there has been some reported tranny issues but nothing exceedingly bad. I think u would be best served with the gt500 especially if you were planning to mod the 5.0. let us know what u decide

Got it, potential tranny issues. Can this be resolved with a new tranny or does someone rebuild them properly? Nah, I'm not planning on modding it but simply want a fast stock toy car.

Any GT500 issues that I should know about? I'm thinking about getting a used one.

The GT 500 has a 5.4L not a 5.0L. Also the tranny is much better than the MT- 82. I would rather get the GT 500. A couple of issues among others are that fuel conpsumption and insurance will be higher not to mention POWER.

It can as long as the two people in the back don't have any legs.
