So I was at the dealership having my 2010 Roush serviced and I was looking at the new RS3. Very nice car and with a conservative tune it is putting out 540 hp. My question is why wouldn't anyone wait for the new Shelby that will be here in just a couple of months and it will be putting out a whopping 650 hp. They are both in the $55k-$60k range. I love my Roush and it has been a great car but what I am reading the new Shelby is going to be head and shoulders over everything.....Thoughts?

Well, it definitely has vast potential. The engine is already a serious contender, and in the new GT500, it will make the car completely rival the ZL1.
I am interested to see how well it will do on the track, especially with the Bilstein adjustable shocks.

The ZL1 has already set the bar high by running the Nuremburg ring in 7min41sec. The GT500 does not have IRS like the ZL1 does, and it does have smaller rear tires, but I am wondering how well it will track and handle as compared to the Boss 302?

The 13 GT500 is gonna be a monster. I would definitely choose a GT500 over a Roush. The Roush will probably handle better but, I would prefer the power over handling.

If someone had the money for a '13 GT500 and purchased any other Mustang I'd call them a fool.

I agree the new GT500 will be a monster. It will probably come in at @ $60K for the base model and more for upgraded versions and then adding dealer mark ups it should be more like $75K for a car that should handel like a RS3.
The problem with most of my friends from the local Shelby Club is that they have a lot of power, but its unuseable as they can't deliver it to the ground.
It looks like Ford has this figured out with a Bilstein suspension package and an optimized transmission.
For function, handling and price, I would choose the RS3.
For sheer power and a 200 mph speedo, I would choose the GT500.
Guess I got buy more lotto tickets.

I like Roush a lot. But the Shelby 5.4 is built to be supercharged. The standard 5.0 is a great motor (I have one) but will it last long term on boost (or at least as well as the 5.4 with forged internals)?

The 2013 is no longer a 5.4, Ford upgraded the engine to the beloved 5.8

You mention that your 2010 Roush was recently dealer serviced. If it is a 2010 Stage 3, then you have the 4.6L engine with forged internals, essentially the same engine in the Roush P51 Mustang. With 540 HP and 510 lb/ft TQ. These engines can handle 700+ HP. Keep this car, don't trade it in!
