I had an 05 V6 with 2 12" alpine type rs on 1200w rms and my headlights dimmed pretty badly (the idle would also drop too haha). Im pretty sure I was only getting around 900w or so rms too because my wires were only rated at 925w rms.

Now I have an 05 GT and it has the shaker 1000 and my original plan was to wire in the factory 2 10's and add 2 more 10s (kicker cvr?) But I noticed tonight that my lights already dim slightly on the factory system!! So now I dont know what to do! Im worried that even adding the 2 cvrs on something like 900-1000w rms might even be too much, much less trying to add in the 2 factory subs as well.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks
sorry--haven't checked this in a while! I have very mild dimming when absolutely cranked with demanding tracks. My next upgrade will actually be big three, probably with an upgraded alternator. i currently have a 1.5 fared capacitor and Optima yellow top battery (high current sound system=battery and alternator fail...). just like modifying any other system on the car; you have to do all the supporting mods to maintain reliability when you make a drastic change. I also have the factory 'subs' of the factory shaker 500 disconnected, they simply didn't add anything other than noise. I believe you would be best served to remove the factory 10s in the trunk when you add your aftermarket subs and amp; you gain room and really don't loose anything sound wise

what is the guage of the wires you used? You can usually disregard the marketing gimick...i mean power rating...advertised. 4 guage would be more than sufficient.

Give them a call and all the confusion will go away.

Speaker replacement will be the most rewarding for the ears.
A new headunit will tickle your brain.
