2011 GT 0-60 acceleration question
I just want opinions:
With the MT82 and 3.73 read end, is it better to start in 1st or 2nd gear for a 0-60 run? Just asking, because I can burnout starting in 2nd and reach 60 without having to shift.
Thoughts?

I don't know 2011, but I would guess maybe 2nd with your mods. That thing must be putting down a ton of hp with a SC. I can only imagine what a 5.0 is like stock at the moment. The most powerful car I've ever been in was around 300hp. btw, sweet looking ride.

If you don't mind replacing your clutch every ~10,000 miles, then by all means start out in 2nd. Otherwise, you'd probably do better starting in first and eating the shift.
The Corvette ZR-1 will reach 60 in first gear, which means it is geared pretty similarly to the GT's 2nd. Do with that knowledge what you will.
If you have the advantage of a rolling start, I would start in 2nd every time.

Thanks man! I have now spent my mod budget for a while - but I am in a good place!

Heat the **** out of your tires and soften up your springs, weight transfer is your problem , also you need more rubber, what are you at 550 - 600 HP. You are at the edge of the 3.73 gears but a 2nd gear start I bet will get you a slower time I think

2nd gear burnouts are a good way to destroy your clutch, especially on dry pavement. Also, unless you are using a drag radial or slick a burnout can make the tires greasy and not stick as well.
0-60 times are for magazines and doesn't mean much in the real world. go to a drag strip and see what it can do
however, if you can drive and hook you'll get your best 0-60mph time starting in first, powershift into 2nd (dont let off the gas) it's also a good way to break something if you screw it up, but thats the only way to get a "best" time.
I'm not sure how you'll measure your 0-60 time though.. using some phone app?

Well, ideally with a VBOX, but those are hella expensive. You can get a radar gun for like $40.
OR, you can buy a '13 with the Track Apps built in.
