No cold air from my A/C

I can work on the engine. I have no idea what I am doing around the AC. Where is the button for the compressor?
A friend told me the silver "tubes" leading to the connector where you put in the coolant should be cold.......It isnt cold!
The compressor does come on.

Not all silver lines will be cold. I forget which one but only one will be. The other will be hot.
To properly diagnose A/C problems you need a manifold guage set. Just checking the low pressure side doesn't tell you much other than the freon level is ok and even that can be incorrect. If you get a manifold set you'll know why that is true. (Orifice tube)
An easy thing to check without a guage set is the Blender door as already mentioned. It is what allows cold air to mix with ambient air and send it into the passenger compartement.

A/C issues
I just bought a 2013 GT, and i noted that the A/C did not get cold on the test drive, but since i drove it a few blocks, thought it did not have time to cool down. Ont e way home after the purchase, the A/C temp was tepid at best. My digital thermometer shows the vent temp at best to be 45 degrees, but it will normally hover around 47-48. My old company car (GM) runs about 35 degrees. Went back to the dealer and walked with the sales guy to a 2008 Mustang that was in the used car lot. Within three minutes, the vent temp was 33.6.
Most agree there is an issue with the new ford A/C, except their customer service. After numerous calls, they say that the system is within specs and the evaporator valve shuts off at 45 degrees to keep the evaporator from freezing. One service rep told me there have been other complaints. 45 degrees does not get it in 100-115 degree heat in the desert. If the 2008 Mustang will operate at near freezing, why won't the new system do the same? Oh, Ford tells me this is a different system. I'm certainly fighting an uphill battle. Other vehicles I've tested all run in the mid 30's vent temp. A/C guys tell me 45 degrees is inadequate. I'm open to any suggestions.
