This is a stupid question, but you still need a programmer even if you get a dyno tune right? I was told I still need a programmer.

Most shops that dyno will support the SCT and will use yours if you have one. I assume they sell it as part of that $1500 but even so, I think they're about $500-$700 high. I've also heard where shops will dyno tune and NOT provide the handheld. I think that's BS.

like previously stated:

buy CAI and tuner, install it yourself = $650ish

PM sent.

yep like everyone else said here, you might as well buy a $600 intake+tuner+tune package from a reputable online dealer, and if you really want a dyno tune later go pay the avg $350 for a dyno tune, save yourself $550.

BAMA (american muscle) offers a warranty if you are denied warranty due to your intake+tune on a cyl #8 piston issue they'll pay to fix it. So far that is the only issue i've ever heard reported after getting an intake+tune so i'd feel pretty good about using them.

I believe Steeda has never had one of their tuned vehicles get a #8 issue, but I don't believe they sell as many tunes as bama or brenspeed does.

I haven't seen anyone with a decent tune (bama/brenspeed/lethal/steeda) run any better at the 1/4 mile after getting a dyno tune on these cars. I have seen mixed reports on the AFR though from the same tuner, some people it's spot on, others were running lean, you can data log after you tune it to see if you are right on or not.
