Default Broken sway bar

I was driving off ft hood the other day and got on the high way, everything was going fine but all the sudden my car started to wobble back and forth like crazy, I felt my rear tires hitting the frame of the car. I pulled over and looke under the car and foud my rear sway bar snapped in the middle.. But I've looked up this problem on the Internet and people say they drive without the rear sway bar all the time.. If mine is broken and wobbling could there be more then just the sway bar?
I bought a steada and will be putting it on tomorrow.

Sure it is not the panhard bar that is broken? that is what controls the lateral movement of the axle.
The silver bar is the panhard.

Yeah, a broken swaybar will not cause the rearend to move. You must have broken the Panhard.
Or did both break?
