I've noticed there are hitches available for the GT that are mostly hidden underneath and use a long drawbar when in use. Everything I've read says some minor trimming to the rear facia has to be done. I'd like to know what that minor trimming is and I'd really like to see a picture of one. I know its sacrilege to many Mustang owners but in the old days, it wasn't all that unusual. I had a hitch on the back of my 66 289/Auto. Worked great for the occasional small trailer, boat or bike usually less than 1000 lbs. If I can put one on where it is not noticeable except when in use, I'll do it!

Hurt your resale value if you cut into the bumper cover. Sure it's not for towing the car out of a ditch or snowbank?

There have got to be better options for moving a small bike or trailer

This isn't going to go well.

I understand though...it'd be convenient for me too, to have a hitch on the gt. I won't take the risk of damage to a half way valuable car not designed for towing though.

You can buy a trailer hitch at the Ford dealership but the only
ones they have come pre-attached to a Ford truck.
Want the hitch, you gotta buy the truck...

i considered this at on point then i just decided iw ould buy a truck lol.

unless your towing something really really light its gonna be hell on your suspension. also unless your pulling a trailer thats really low to the ground your going to have it leaning forward placing more weight on the tongue.

and the most important thing. a mustang towing a trailer just doesn't look right lol.

I have a hitch on my '11 GT/CS.....Draw Tight.....no cutting needed and no deforming happens. I use it to carry a bike rack for when the wife needs her wheel chair plus towing a small trailer.

I also have a Bronco to tow with but many times I want to take the Mustang so the hitch works great. I have had them on an '01 GT Vert and an '07 GT Vert. Never hurt the resale a bit on either car.

Also, nothing like blowing the doors off of another car while towing a trailer......

As much as I'd hate to admit it, my '11 5.0 came with a uhaul hitch (bought slighty used, previous owner was an avid cyclist). I IMMEDIATELY removed it, but it was pretty well hidden and needed zero modifications. I still have the thing in my shed, I can check the part number on it tonight if you'd like..

I knew I'd get about half the answers I've gotten so far. I'm not buying a truck. I traded in my 2000 F-150 on my 2010 GT two years ago! If I wanted a truck I would buy a truck! I just need to haul the occasional small load of junk to the dumpster at work, or bring some stuff home from Lowe's or whatever. The trailer I have in mind has 12" wheels and is 4' x 7'. I doubt if I ever carry more than 500 lbs plus a couple hundred for trailer weight. You can buy a drawbar with riser to even the tongue height. I think the Mustang can handle it. I found out the little piece you have to cut is in the black plastic adjacent to the bumper plastic. Totally underneath the car. I really doubt that installing a hitch would ever devalue the car but if it did, it's easy to remove. Oh, and maximum distance would be 20 miles round trip.
