The reason I ask is because there is a large segment of the enthusiast audience who say that nearly all the power gain comes from the tune and virtually identical results could be obtained by tuning with the stock CAI. I just bought a 2013 Boss 302. I connected a U-tube manometer at the sound tube port and planned to do a WOT run to see how much negative pressure, and thus resistance to airflow, there is in the stock system. The instant I went full throttle the water in the manometer was sucked into the intake leading me to think that it is fairly restrictive. Do you Steeda guys have any data on this? Thanks.
It's true that you gain more WHP out of the tune on an otherwise stock car but that doesn't mean a CAI should be entirely dismissed, otherwise stock ive seen 5-10whp gains, and after doing other mods (like exhaust) people have gained 15-20whp. for the price it's a worthwhile mod. on the 2011+ mustangs there aren't a lot of mods out there that are as cheap and easy as the CAI for whp gains. an off-road mid-pipe is close, but isn't as easy to install.

And I agree with the others, Steeda makes a high quality product, i had one on my 2007 GT and now one on my 2012, I don't regret spending the extra money on it. I got my car and steeda cai in may 2011, they didn't have tunes out for my 2012 ECU yet (or is it the PCM?) anyway, I had to run it a week w/o a tune. no codes thrown, no issues that i've seen, but I didn't floor it till i tuned it. The only reason I installed it was because I thought I had a tune, then when i tried to load the tune it didn't work, said ecu mismatch or some code like that.

Airaid makes Roush CAIs so the question should be
Roush or Steeds.
Dont matter, its the associated tune that will give
your butt dyno some candy.

To the OP: If you are considering one of those CAI's that do not require a tune, then you are short changing yourself. Buy a Steeda and a tuner together. You'll be much happier that you did.
