My car has been making a scraping type noise coming from the bottom of the passenger side. It usually happens in 1st or 2nd gear when accelerating hard from a stop. The only other time i've heard that noise is when I start it up from a hill/incline. I've been told it could be the heat shield, any other ideas? its a manual trans btw

Possibly, anyway to be sure? It doesn't slip or grind when shifting, I just hear that scraping noise usually in the first couple of miles then disappears when its fully warmed up. Any other Ideas?

Chatter and slipping don't necessarily go hand in hand. The fact that it disappears after the car warms up leads me to believe even more that it is a clutch noise.
