Back on topic. I get 18 mpg with the mods in my sig. Resetting the computer every fill up is a really bad way to calculate gas mileage.

NOT resetting the computer at every fill-up means that your on-board is averaging your fuel mileage of the current tank of gas with those of the previous tanks since the last reset. Any new changes in fuel mileage will be masked by the averaging and is masked even more the longer you go without resetting.

BEST thing to do besides resetting the onboard at each fill-up is to record the data that you need to hand calculate since the on-board is not very accurate and is typically conservatively off by about 1-2 MPG. You'll have to convert that to km/l since I'm an American and too set in my ways...

im sure it woudnt hurt to just do a seafoam treatment maybe just clean out ur manifold/tb and pop off those injects and inspect for clogs/dirt build up and like mentioned change the fuel filter

How dirty was your TB? I cleaned mine at 47k and their was a good bit of buildup around the butterflies.

Fuel filter is definitely due at 52k!

I've been using 5w30 for 5 years and 30,000 plus miles. I don't trust a 5w20 for protecting my engine with the way I drive it. Might as well put olive oil in there, that **** is thin.

I wish i had an oil pressure gauge and I'd do some testing with 5w20/5w30 and 5w40.

ford switched to 5w20 to meet CAFE standards, that was without changing anything in the 4.6

Now if you could find me 1 motorcycle engine that specs 5w20, then I might believe the regurgitated tighter tolerances BS that everyone keeps repeating. You won't find one, because they don't give a pooh about CAFE.
From what a Ford engineer told me, the tolerances didn't change, but when 5W-20 became readily available, they switched to it because it improved valvetrain lubrication. 5W-30 was speced previous because it was the thinnest available at the time.

If it's just for CAFE numbers, then why would Ford back spec the 5W-20 to older modular engines, which have no bearing on CAFE? Why risk specing an oil weight that would cause increased wear on older engines for no reason? Unless 5W-20 actually was an improvement to using 5W-30 for those engines?

As for Motorcycles, you and I both know they are not the same, especially for sportbike engines. 60,000 miles on a car is still relatively fresh, 60,000 miles on a motorcycle is downright impressive. Sure you will hear about some SV650 that got over 100,000 miles before it needed a rebuild, but those stories are somewhat rare.
