Default SCT Tuner ?

Just got a 2013 GT, had an 09 V6 with cali and tune. If I go under system info on tuner it says married, but also says that I have 5 unlocks left. Does this mean the tuner is unlocked and I don't have to worry about returning the V6 back to stock? Although I do have the chance to go back to the dealer and return it to stock. Thanks for the help.

You need to return your 2009 v6 back to stock.
Can you still get to the 2009 v6?

The "unlocks" are times it has been moved from one car/ECM to another...but you can only do that if you return the previous car to stock.

You're going to want new tunes anyways with the 13...different engine, programming, etc. So unmarry/unlock it from the previous car and get your new tunes installed then load to the new car.

Unless the SCT for your '09 was the SF3 you can't use it on the 2013 anyway. The tune files for the 2013 are too big for the earlier version of the SCT 2.

Was able to set back to stock today. The tuner is an sct x3. So I should be ok? Now $150 for new tunes for life from AM. Another question is, should I wait before getting tunes since it may be a while before I can get a new cold air intake? Or can I still see improvements with the stock air box? Thanks again.

rockon1,

You'll definitely see improvements with just a Bama tune alone, even with the stock air box. We've seen as much as 30HP & 30TQ throughout the powerband with just a SF3 Bama tuner on the 11+ 5.0's. Plus, you'll notice an increase of throttle response and shift points/firmness adjustments if you went with an Automatic again. Needless to say, any quality custom tune will be noticeable over factory on a stock car.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Shane

I believe on the BAMA tunes there is a drop box option of what type of cold air intake you're running in your car and what other mods you have. If possible, you can replace the paper air filter with a K&N drop in.

Thanks again guys for the info.

Shane, I'll will be getting the Bama tunes again soon. Was very happy with them on my V6 Automatic. I did get a manual this time, which was part of the reason I upgraded, that and the 5.0 .

Yellowneck83, Might just get that K&N filter untill I can get a cai.

Congrats on the 2013 GT!
80%+ of the performance gain is from the custom tune alone.
I wouldn't waste your money on a drop in K&N filter and you won't even feel a difference. Save up the money and put it towards the CAI. ;-)

True ^
Been there, done that. CAI will make a noticeable difference though...
Plus they make the car sound nice to boot!
