Default Help picking 3 Bama tunes?

Just bit the bullet and ordered my JLT Series III and a bama tuner

Now, I need some input on the best tunes for my application. I have 93 octane readily available in my area. This is my DD and 99.9% of my fun is had driving around the city. A 93 Race tune is a given but what about the other two? I'm a bit confused because I want a uptick in low end TQ but it seems as if the one that does that (Street tune) is commonly the one people order in 87 octane.

From what I've read, most opt for 87 street, 93, performance, and 93 race. That sound about right? Any regrets from those that did?

I got 87 street, 91 performance and 93 race. I have only used the race tune and love it. I got the 91 performance in case I was ever in an area that only has 91 octane.

Congrats! You're going to love the Custom Bama tune and JLT CAI. This is one of the most popular kits and definitely produces great results!

As far as the Tune's go, you definitely have the right idea. This is how each tune is written:

Street (87-93 octane) - The street tune is designed as a daily driver program that focuses on increasing mid-range power. Automatic vehicles are further enhanced by making adjustments to the transmission's shift points and firmness.

Performance (87-93 octane) - The Performance program is designed to add power at 3000 RPMs and higher, focusing more on the top end horsepower and all out performance driving. Timing, fuel and throttle response settings are slightly more aggressive than the street tune. This is a great track tune but also works well for daily drivers that are looking for a little more "get up and go" than the street tune. The automatic transmission settings are the same as in the street tune.

Race (91 - 93 octane) - The race tune will ensure the largest increase in vehicle performance. Using the highest grade of fuel available in your area is mandatory. This file is designed for "Race Use Only", as the timing, fuel, and throttle response settings are very aggressive. It is so aggressive that we do not recommend it for daily driving as it may cause your vehicle to try to jump out from a stop and easily spin the tires. On automatics, we implement entirely new shift points and firmness settings to further enhance the all-out performance of the vehicle.

We also have what's called the "Hybrid" tune. This file is basically a mix between all Three files. It has the low end of the Street tune, Mid range of the Performance tune and top end of the Race tune! If you'd also like access to this file, just let the Bama team know.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any questions or need some assistance. Our Mustang Experts are here Monday-Friday from 9AM-9PM EST and Saturdays from 9AM-5:30PM EST. If you want to hit them up, their number is 866.727.1266.

Same decision I had to make. Decided on 89, 93, 93 because I use 93 all the time anyway.

Dan, I just sent a reply back to sct@americanmuscle.com and requested to have my order changed to the following 3 tunes:

87 Street
93 Race
93 Hybrid

Was that the proper channel to go through? Also, is the hybrid call a "race hybrid" tune as I've seen it referred to or a just "hybrid"? Will the bama guys know what I was referring to in the email? (Obviously the Race Hybrid if such a thing exists)

Honestly I started out with the 87 Performance then tried the 93 Race and didn't go back. I don't mind paying the extra 20 cents per gallon for the better performance, better throttle response and slightly better mileage.

I use the 91 performance tune for mine. The race tune has too touchy of a throttle for my taste. I have an automatic so there is no 'feathering' of the clutch. It's just gas and brake.

The hybrid tune sounds interested, I'm curious what shift map is utilized for Autos; the one from the Street or the Race tune?

Yes, my Bama team will understand that Email. Just to be sure, shoot me a PM with your order number and I'll make sure you get the proper tunes!
