Question CAI Newbie

I have been looking around at cold air intakes, and I have had my eye on the JLT Series 3 but I was wondering if there are better choices. I have also looked at the K&N cold air intakes. So what is the best bang for the buck and what is the best overall (nothing outrageously expensive)?

You can automatically forget any CAI that doesn't include a tune. It's going to do next to nothing for you. Try and find something with a CAI/tune combo.

Yes, I am aware that it requires a tune. I am planning on buying an SCT. If I decide to get the JLT I'll go with the package deal.

I'd check on tuner packages.

They sell CAI's with Tuners in packages. Bama (American Muscle) and Brenspeed (my personal choice) both sell certain CAI's with tuners.

Can't get better bang than that.

I love my polished aluminum Granatelli CAI but if I had it to do again, I'd buy a package from Brenspeed.

The tune-required CAI's are all equivalent in performance. Plus the CAI is only about 20% of the CAI & tune combo's power gain. Who writes the tune is the most critical aspect of the purchase.

There are some great choices out there ... but for obvious reasons ... we think there are none better than our Cold Air Intake.

http://www.steeda.com/blog/2012/03/m...-intake-truth/

Our products are American Made by the American Worker ... We are ISO 9001:2008 Certified which means you are getting the highest quality product that we can offer & we have had 0 issues with our tune in regards to warranty claims/denials.

Shoot me an email at tim@steeda.com if you would like to know more about our CAI?

Best Regards,

TJ

Thank you for the help guys! I think I'm going to go with the JLT and SCT BAMA combo.

What I did was found an intake used on ebay and bought the tuner from AM. I wanted the C&L Racer but didn't like the $300+ price tag.

I found one used on ebay for half the cost of new, then replaced the K&N-style intake (which I'm not a fan of, they let in a lot of fine dust) with a synthetic media filter from aFe. Now it's like a new intake
