Synthetic Oil?

I'd say yes. I always buy my oil when I see that autozone has a deal going on. Most of the time its buy 5qts of oil and get the filter free. Then you just have to buy one more qt and it comes out to about $50 or something like that. A full synthetic will last you MUCH longer than a conventional oil. I change mine around 10,000 miles just to be safe, but the mobil 1 full synthetic I use advertises that you can go 15,000 miles.

Your car came from the factory with Motorcraft 5W-20 synthetic blend and it's good for UP TO 7500 miles but I change my wife's V6 '06 Pony with the blend at about 5,000 miles because she tends to make a # of short trips and she has a lead foot. I'll typically go 8000-10,000 miles between oil changes on synthetic and going over 7,000 I use an Amsoil filter in lieu of the OE Motorcraft filter (the OE filter is very good up to 7500 miles).
As long as you change any oil at a frequency geared towards your driving style, the environment you drive in and the oil type, you'll get just as much life from an engine on old dyno oil as you will on the best synthetic.
IMO, if you're changing synthetic oil at anything under 8,000 miles AND not racing or Motor-X, then you're wasting your money.
