Do the trans fluid change asap!!! That's your most likely wearing-out issue due to not changing the fluid soon enough (waiting 100k is way too long on these cars).

How much power are you planning to add? Looking at service history of my car, at 15k miles a whipple was installed by Ford dealer at 6psi. The transmission died at 22k miles.

Again, look at my prior post. I just can't imagine trying to put serious money into a near 100k mile car for various reasons. If you are thinking $2-3k sure, but if its more like $8-10k...

I had a '99 Crown Vic, it has over 200K on her with the original tyranny. If yours just has 90K miles on it and used with synthetic oil, it just got broken in! I wouldn't worry about the motor.
One thing I did do was change the tranny filter every 25K and filled her with M1 ATF. (I also installed a shift kit). She is still running strong!
I strongly recommend the shift kit, you could do it yourself for just a few dollars, there is a wright up on it somewhere.
My sister-in-law is driving it now so I get to follow up and see how she is doing.

Well i bought the car with 77k on it and it has almost 90k now. Since ive bought the car, ive only used mobile 1 full synthetic, cant speak for the previous owner though. As far as a shift kit, idk if Id need it since i have the tune on it that makes the shift firmness harder, unless it helps more.

I dont have a shift kit. Tune takes care of that. What kills these auto trannys is full throttle downshifts that downshift more than one gear. The 5r55 dont like that. Because I race mine so much I swap out the fluid once a year.

the stang and i just got back from a 6K road trip, the car ran perfect and out in the midwest i ran her hard, cruised at 100-120 mph at times. im not talking just blasting it to those speeds,, im talking cruising at those speed for 30-40 miles at a time.
as far as im concerned these engines are bullet proof. and it was blistering hot out there the first part of my trip.
a few things i did find out about the car , the gas in the midwest sucks you need to run 91 octane or better ( if you can find it)
over 6 thousand miles the car used 1\2 quart of oil.. ( not to bad in my book )
being 6 foot and 320lbs i was comfy the entire trip.

What are all your opinions on the life of the stock timing chains? Is it something that can be pushed past 100k no problem? Or should i get on replacing that with a cam kit from American muscle? From what u guys are saying, this engine and car in general are strong and it def feels that way!
